employment terms

1. EVALUATION:an act or instance of evaluating or appraising.

2. ASSESSMENTS: These tests ask you a series of questions and try to provide you with some sense of your personality and career interests

3. BACKGROUND CHECK:Used by employers to verify the accuracy of the information you provide on your resume

4. BENEFITS:An important part of your compensation package, and part of the salary negotiation process

5. COLD CALL:when a person looking for a job approaches an employeer who has not publically announced any openings

6. COMPENSATION PACKAGE:The combination of salary and fringe benefits an employer provides to an employee

7. GROSS PAY:Total of an employee's regular remuneration including allowances, overtime pay, commissions, and bonuses before any deductions are made

8. FICA:federal income tax

9. OSHA: occupational saftey and health administration; federal law in the United States

10. NET PAY:the remaining amount after deductions from the gross salary

conflict resolution -A promblem- solving strategy for settling disputesdiversity-

Varietystereotype - An oversimplified and distorted belief about a person or group without attention to individual differences.

cross-functional team- A group of people from two or more departments or areas of expertises who work together toward a common business goal

functional team - A group of people from one company department or area of expertise who work together toward a common business

total quality management (TQM) - A theory of management that carefully coordinates company effforts to achieve customers satisfaction and continous product improvement also called "commitment to Quality"
